This booklet has eight comprehension passages, mainly from classic literature, with one non-fiction text added to mix things up. While the passages are shorter than those typically found in the SEAG exam, they provide children with an introduction to more challenging texts.
Each comprehension includes one of the following question types:
- Parts of speech
- Inference questions
- Vocabulary understanding
- Retrieval of key information
- Identifying phrases within the text
From experience, these are the types of questions that children find most challenging. By introducing them to these question types now, they will have time to build confidence, develop their skills and make steady improvements before the SEAG exam.
