Developing Vocabulary Through Inference (2) Summer Pack

This resource is structured over seven weeks, with seven questions per week. Pupils practise the same core skills regularly, while the vocabulary and texts change each week to build confidence and deepen understanding.

The question formats remain consistent (for example, Question 1 follows the same structure each week, Question 2 follows the same structure, and so on). This helps pupils focus on skill development, rather than spending time learning new question styles.

Each week includes:

• Vocabulary in context (working out meaning using clues)
• Synonyms and best-fit word choice
• Inference about feelings, actions and motives
• Identifying correct word usage
• Applying vocabulary meaning to real situations
• Sentence completion using meaning and logic
• Selecting the best word to complete a sentence
