This booklet contains 8 SEAG-style poetry comprehensions. Each poem is accompanied by 7 multiple-choice questions and 6 free-response questions, closely reflecting the style and structure of the official SEAG examination.
Many of the multiple-choice questions include carefully chosen distractors. This means that several answers may seem plausible, but only one is definitively correct. As a result, children are encouraged to return to the text, locate relevant evidence and justify their choices rather than rely on guesswork. This helps to strengthen close reading, critical thinking and exam technique, while also building confidence in tackling more demanding comprehension tasks.
