Primary 4 Key Spellings

This resource offers various spellings and spelling rules tailored for primary 4 students. While it doesn’t cover all the spellings expected at this level, based on my teaching experience, these are spellings that students should feel comfortable with. Mastering these will prepare them for more advanced spelling rules and words they’ll encounter as they move into Primary 5.

Included are the following spelling rules:

1. ‘ee’ sound spelt ‘eye’
2. ‘ur’ sound spelt ‘or’
3. ‘s’ sound spelt ‘c’
4. ‘kn’ words with silent ‘k’
5. ‘wr’ words with silent ‘w’
6. Present tense ‘-ing’
7. Past tense ‘-ed’
8. Change ‘y’ to ‘I’ and add ‘ed’
9. Irregular Past Tense 1
10. Irregular Past Tense 2
