This is a comprehensive resource designed to support Primary 6 and 7 children. It is divided into two parts.

Part 1

Part 1 of this resource provides a wide range of practice activities focusing on nouns, pronouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, prepositions and conjunctions. Each section contains clear examples followed by exercises that increase in difficulty, enabling pupils to develop both confidence and accuracy. The activities are designed to support learning at home while helping children recognise and apply different parts of speech within sentences and short texts.

Part 2

Part Two provides pupils with a wide range of practice questions across all the key word classes. It is structured to assess both recognition (spotting a word type) and application (choosing the correct word to complete a sentence). The section includes identification tasks (e.g. “Circle the adverb”), multiple-choice/contextual tasks (e.g. “Which sentence uses ‘back’ as a verb?”) and fill-in-the-gap tasks (e.g. “Choose the conjunction which fits best.”)

The resource is carefully sequenced so that the level of challenge increases gradually — beginning with straightforward spotting exercises and progressing towards more demanding tasks involving words that can change meaning depending on the context (e.g. match, bank, favour).
